What leaves your Mac, where it goes, and what we keep.
1. In short
Your video, proxies and audio stay on your Mac. To do the thinking, CutPrep sends text and stills to Claude, the AI model of Anthropic. We keep what a subscription needs: your account, your linked Macs and how many hours you used. We do not keep what you shot or what it was about, unless you choose to share a run.
2. Who is responsible
Sir Render, the trade name of Klaas Kleiterp, sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak), Oosterstraat 13, 2022 CT Haarlem, the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce 69599394, VAT NL001990485B56) is responsible for the data in this statement. Questions and requests: klaas@sir-render.film.
For footage of other people that you work on in CutPrep, you are the controller and we process it for you, under the data processing section of the terms.
3. What stays on your Mac
Video files, proxies and audio never leave your Mac. Transcription (with a local Whisper model), face detection, camera movement, shot detection, subclips and all timelines happen on your Mac. So do your usage log in the app, the profile CutPrep builds from your own edits, and your client and brand lists. Parts of those are sent along in a request when a run needs them, as listed below.
4. What goes to Anthropic
For the parts that interpret your footage, CutPrep sends this to Claude by Anthropic, through our account:
- interview transcripts, your brief, your steering, and the client and brand names you enter;
- stills from your B-roll (up to 960 pixels wide) when it is labelled, searched, or checked in a preview;
- stills and the transcript of reference videos and of your own finished edits that CutPrep learns from;
- the questions you ask the assistant on the site or in the app, with the conversation so far.
Anthropic processes this to give an answer and sends the result back. Under Anthropic's commercial terms it is not used to train their models. Anthropic keeps it for a limited time (up to 30 days at the time of writing) to detect misuse, longer only when something is flagged. For customers in Europe the contracting party is Anthropic Ireland; data may be processed in the United States, covered by Anthropic's data processing terms and the EU standard contractual clauses. See anthropic.com/legal.
5. What we keep about you, and why
- Account: your email address, name and how you sign in. To give you access (contract).
- Linked Macs: the name of each Mac, a random installation code, the app version and when it was last seen. To apply your seats and let you unlink a Mac (contract).
- Meter: your plan, your balance, and one line per run with the kind of run, the hours of footage and the time. No file names, subjects or transcript text. To count your hours (contract).
- Subscription and payments: plan, billing period, status, your Stripe customer number, your licence key, the amount paid and any code you used. To bill you and keep our books (contract and legal obligation).
- Feedback on /talk: your message, the page, your plan and, if you give it, your email address. To read and answer it (legitimate interest).
- Assistant: per question only the number of tokens in and out and whether it was refused. Your conversation is not stored by us. To keep costs and misuse in check (legitimate interest).
- Rate limiting for the assistant: your IP address, held briefly in memory and never written to a database. To stop abuse (legitimate interest).
7. Who else handles data
- Anthropic (Ireland and United States): the AI model, as described above.
- Base44: hosts cutprep.io, stores the account and service data above and sends our emails. Its servers may be outside the EU, including the United States, covered by the EU standard contractual clauses.
- Stripe (Ireland and United States): payments and invoices. Stripe handles your card details; we never see them.
We sell no data and share it with no one else, unless the law requires it. The site loads its fonts from cutprep.io itself, so no font service sees your visit.
9. How long we keep it
- Account, linked Macs and meter: as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete them within 30 days.
- Invoices and payment records: seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it.
- Shared runs: the content twelve months, or until you delete it; the line that remains as long as you have an account.
- Usage numbers and messages from the app: at most 24 months.
- Feedback: as long as it helps us plan the app. Ask and we delete it.
10. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and object to how we use it on the basis of legitimate interest. Email klaas@sir-render.film and we answer within a month. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
11. Changes
If we change what we send or keep, we update this statement and tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
